Geared towards both new and experienced directors—as well as writers, producers, actors, crew, and anyone else interested in short film—this is a unique opportunity to hear real-world stories and discuss ideas with industry experts.

Mike Plante
Mike Plante is a senior programmer for short film at the Sundance Film Festival. As a filmmaker he produces documentaries, most recently Giuseppe Makes A Movie (2014).
Garrett Bradley
Garrett Bradley is a New Orleans-based artist and director whose work has screened at festivals and institutions around the world, including her feature Below Dreams (Tribeca 2014) and her most recent short film, Alone (2017 Sundance Film Festival Jury Award winner).
Sam Green
Sam Green is a documentary filmmaker whose work includes "live documentaries" that he narrates in person while musicians perform a live soundtrack, the Academy Award-nominated The Weather Underground, and the short The Rainbow Man/John 3:16.
Filmed over a decade, the documentary Quest: The Fury and the Sound is an intimate portrait of the Raineys, a family living in North Philadelphia whose home music studio is a creative haven for their community. It premiered in competition at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. One of the subjects of the film, Christopher “Quest” Rainey, will join the panel discussion.
Jonathan Olshefski
Jonathan Olshefski is a Philadelphia-based documentary filmmaker and artist who strives to tell intimate and nuanced stories about his subjects through emphasizing collaboration, dialogue, and relationship. He is an associate professor of radio, TV, and film at Rowan University.
Sabrina Schmidt Gordon
Sabrina Schmidt Gordon is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose work includes BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez, Documented, and Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes (Independent Lens). Sabrina teaches documentary filmmaking at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and is a co-chair of the Black Documentary Collective.
Christopher Rainey
Christopher “Quest” Rainey is the subject of the Documentary Quest, which premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. The Raineys’ home studio acts as a creative space and community refuge in North Philadelphia. Since 2002, Christopher “Quest” Rainey has hosted Friday night recording sessions and mentored artists in the community. He is also co host on WURD 900 AM on The New World radio program every Sunday evening.
